Overview
The Strange Brew Taproom opened in May 2019, two years after their first release. It sits in the heart of Koukaki, a suburb or Athens. Strange Brew was founded as “Brewers without a brewery” and brew their beers at a handful of Greece brewery facilities.
Beer Selection
Strange Brew Athens boasts an impressive tap list that caters to a wide range of beer preferences. Their flagship beer, the Jasmine IPA, is a crowd-pleaser known for its floral aroma and refreshing taste. For those seeking a bolder flavor profile, the DIPA delivers a hop-forward experience, while the Stout offers a rich, dark character.
Beer enthusiasts can also enjoy a classic Lager, a crisp and clean option, or explore more experimental tastes with the Farmhouse Ale and Sour. If you prefer a lighter beer with a hint of hop bitterness, the Session IPA is a perfect choice. And for those who crave maximum hops, the TIPA packs a powerful punch. With such a diverse selection, there’s something to satisfy every palate at Strange Brew Athens.
Brewery Experience
Strange Brew Athens offers a welcoming atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating areas, perfect for enjoying their wide selection of craft beers. The cozy interior provides a relaxed setting to sample their diverse tap list, while the outdoor space is ideal for warmer days. For those who prefer to enjoy Strange Brew’s creations at home, the brewery also offers convenient to-go options, allowing you to savor their exceptional brews wherever you are.
Additional Features
Strange Brew does offer some limited merchandise. In the above photo you can see some of the t-shirts they have for sale.
Overall Impression
I liked the fact that they had a variety of different beer options and also offered some of their own as well as visiting beers. The indoor space was limited as well as the outdoor space. This location could be a challenge at popular times or during events.
If I ever visited Athens and the Koukaki area I would consider going back to Strange Brew, mainly to try some additional selections on their vast beer menu.
