Campsite Review
We stayed in site 313 in the Arroy Seco loop. This was a huge site and perfect for our RV. We were actually spending the weekend with family and were able to get sites 311 – 313. Our site was so large that we really didn’t even use site 311, and put a few tents on our site.
This site offered just water and sewer hook-ups and no electric, although there was a stand with a bunch of 20-amp circuits right next to it and we were able to run an extension cord over to get some service. We found out that they are shutting down these sites in August of 2024 for upgrades including new electric.
Amenities and Facilities
- Spacious RV Sites: The campground features a variety of RV sites, including full-hookup sites, pull-through sites. Whether you’re in a motorhome, trailer, or tent, there’s a comfortable spot for you.
- Cabin Rentals: For those seeking a cozy retreat without an RV, the campground offers cabin rentals with modern amenities. Enjoy the comfort of a private cabin while still being close to nature.
- Outdoor Recreation: Temecula KOA at Vail Lake is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Explore miles of mountain biking trails, take a leisurely hike through the surrounding hills, or enjoy a relaxing day of fishing at Vail Lake.
- Swimming Pool: Cool off on warm days in the campground’s large swimming pool. Whether you’re doing laps or just lounging poolside, it’s a refreshing way to unwind.
- Mini Golf: Putt your way through a round of mini golf with family and friends. The mini golf course offers a fun and entertaining activity for all ages. Our adult kids had fun playing and just needed to provide ID to get a putter and ball.
- Sports Courts: Stay active with basketball, volleyball, and horseshoe courts available onsite. Challenge your fellow campers to a friendly game or practice your skills in a picturesque setting.
- Pickleball: Try your hand at pickleball, a popular sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. The campground’s pickleball courts provide a great opportunity for friendly competition. This court received a lot of activity the weekend we camped here. Be prepared to wait or check for when the court is free.
- Camp Store: Forgot something at home? The camp store has you covered with essentials, snacks, souvenirs, and camping supplies.
- Dog Park: Don’t leave your furry friends behind! The campground features a dog park where your pets can run and play off-leash in a safe environment. Note that this dog park seemed a bit small for the size of the RV park and amount of land around.
- Community Events: Throughout the year, Temecula KOA at Vail Lake hosts community events such as movie nights, live music, and themed celebrations, providing entertainment for guests of all ages.
- Campfire Rings: Gather around a campfire ring and share stories, roast marshmallows, and enjoy the warmth of a crackling fire under the starry night sky. We had a nice fire and of course needed to enjoy S’mores!
Vailocity Bike Park
The mountain bike park at the campground is called Vailocity Bike Park and deserves it’s own section as it is one of the premiere attractions to this campground.
It offers a wide variety of types of trails for all ages and skill levels. My nephew and his friend couldn’t get enough of the bike park. They offer bike rentals including mountain e-bike rentals.
If you love to mountain bike and camp, be sure to arrange to visit Temecula KOA at Vail Lake!!!!!!
Natural Surroundings
Temecula KOA at Vail Lake offers a serene retreat surrounded by captivating natural beauty. The campground’s well-maintained paved road to Vail Lake is perfect for bike rides, providing smooth conditions and scenic views. Nestled within tranquil woodlands, guests can enjoy leisurely strolls, wildlife sightings, and the calming ambiance of nature. As day turns to night, the starry skies above the campground create a magical backdrop for campfire tales and stargazing. In every season, Temecula KOA at Vail Lake invites guests to reconnect with the peaceful allure of the outdoors.
During our stay we took our e-bikes on the road to Vail Lake. The road was closed to cars but you could manage to walk or take your bike to the lake. Due to water levels the lake was closed to boats and kayaks, but it was still worth the trip to see.
Campground Staff
During our stay we really didn’t interact directly with camp staff. Before arrival we received a text to authorize payment ahead of time so that when we showed up at the guard shack we did not need to stop at the office.
There were workers that went buy our site during our stay and they always seemed friendly and would wave to say hello.

WARNING: On leaving the resort on a Sunday morning around checkout we encountered a lot of traffic heading west on 79. Turns out that the backup was due to everyone leaving around the same time and needing to wait for the light to change at the intersection of Anza Road. Just be patient or plan on getting a earlier or later exit.
